Buy Victory Bonds, the 1910s (1914 - 1918) Canadian World War I (WWI) War Bond poster ("To maintain the prosperity of Canada"; "5 1/2% interest tax free") encouraging citizens to purchase war bonds, and featuring art of a farm, shipyards, and an armament factory.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this past June, we auctioned a remarkable group of around 100 guaranteed authentic mostly war posters, stage play posters, and political posters mostly dating from before 1900 through 1945. These were originally acquired by an archive decades ago, and they have been in storage ever since, until they were recently consigned to us. In that consignment were a dozen posters that had been backed onto a very thin linen after they were created (11 war posters and 1 stage play poster), so those posters are in this set of auctions, where we auction linenbacked posters of all types! Many of these are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase these posters, some of which we have never seen before! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 23 1/2" x 34 1/2" [60 x 88 cm].

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had an unknown amount of its blank borders trimmed off. It had a 2" tear in the lower right border. Someone mounted it onto a thin linen with no excess. Either before or after it was mounted, it acquired a large number of creases scattered throughout, with a few scratches in the middle left of the poster. There is also a tiny bit of paper at the bottom of the poster, likely where a snipe was attached, and there are faint water stains in the bottom left corner. Obviously, the poster can be re-backed, but bear this in mind before placing a bid on this poster.
