An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Beast with One Million Eyes, the 1955 David Kramarsky horror thriller ("An unspeakable horror... Destroying... Terrifying!"; "Filmed for wide screen in Terror-scope"; "Screaming terror!") starring Paul Birch, Lorna Thayer, Dona Cole, Bruce Whitmore (in the title role as the Beast; billed as "and the Beast"), and Leonard Tarver. In case you were wondering, the "beast" did not actually have a million eyes (or even close)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Albert Kallis Important Added Info: Note that this poster is one of the most commonly censored 1950s posters! Apparently, the artwork image of sexy Lorna Thayer wearing a 3-piece nightie that showed much of her cleavage and midriff was just TOO much for most 1950s movie theaters, and many of them covered her body in some way! The theater that used this particular one-sheet had someone carefully paint a black garment over much of Thayer's body, thus not offending the 1956 people who saw this movie outside the theater. Depending on how you look at it, this is either a significant defect, or a pretty cool addition to the poster, demonstrating just how Puritanical America was in the middle 1950s! Condition: good. The poster has black paint over the center of Thayer's body , a Canadian censor stamp in the top right background area, and 2" of separation at the bottom of the vertical foldline. I have no idea whether the black paint can be removed from the poster by chemical means, but there is a significant chance that it has bonded with the paper and can NOT be removed without removing part or all of the image underneath, so please do not bid on this poster unless you like it as it is, or can accept the very real possibility that it can only be restored by having the censored area painted over!
