An Original Vintage Paperbacked Magazine Cover (measures 10 1/2" x 15" [27 x 38 cm]) (Learn More)

Collier's ("The National Weekly"; "More than a million a week"), the magazine which was founded by Peter Collier in 1887. It was known for its investigative journalism (critics called it "muckraking"), and it remained successful all the way until 1957. In its early days it was known as Collier's Weekly, and early covers had art by name artists who signed their work.
Artist: Frank Leyendecker
Important Added Info: Note that this magazine cover has Leyendecker art, but it is not by J.C. Leyendecker! It is by Frank Leyendecker, who was J.C. Leyendecker's brother and worked with him! Also note that this is solely the cover of the magazine and that it has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards.

Condition: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the magazine cover had smudges, darkening, and minor wear around the edges. Overall, the magazine cover was in very good condition prior to paperbacking. The restorer backed the magazine cover "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the magazine cover).
