Original 1932 Poster Art (measures 16" x 26 1/2" [41 x 67 cm]) (Learn More)

Taxi!, the 1932 Roy Del Ruth New York City taxi driver romantic crime melodrama ("Our hats off to James Cagney for another marvelous characterization in 'Taxi!'"; adapted from the play by Kenyon Nicholson; "Adaptation and Dialogue by Kubec Glamson & John Bright"; Cagney is an independent cab driver, and a mob controlled large company wants to push all the independents out of business, and Cagney seeks revenge after they kill his brother; his beautiful girlfriend is played by young and sexy Loretta Young) starring James Cagney, Loretta Young, George E. Stone, Guy Kibbee, Leila Bennett, and Dorothy Burgess. Note that this is the movie that includes the famous scene where taxi driver Cagney speaks Yiddish to a Jewish customer (although Irish, Cagney had grown up on the streets of New York, and he could speak fluent Yiddish)!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this original art is somewhat of a mystery. It was surely created in 1932 (on heavy Whatman poster board, and there is a logo for that company on the back; see our images), when this movie was first playing, but was it created for the studio to be reproduced on posters, or was it created by a local theater to be used in place of a poster? We really can't say, and we have not seen this image elsewhere, so we don't really have a good guess. PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS UNLESS YOU CAN ACCEPT THE UNCERTAINTY OUTLINED ABOVE. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: very good. There are smudges and stains in the blank white borders surrounding the art, but the art itself only has a few smudges and scuffs.
