Also note that this is an extremely rare French poster from near the end of World War II! Virtually no French posters survive from the mid 1940s or earlier. There were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all posters from before World War II, and also from during the war, and the first few years afterwards! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was displayed and it both faded (the red colors have changed to a pink color) and it has also darkened. It had small tears and small areas of paper loss on parts of several folds, with greater tears and paper loss at the top center crossfold, which fortunately falls in the blank background area. The poster had pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The person who backed the poster did a pretty nice job, but they did not attempt to address the fading issue. Still, the poster can certainly be displayed and enjoyed on the new owner's wall, but bear in mind its defects before placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
