During the "Red Scare" in the 1950s, Tuttle became notorious for being a former member of the Communist Party and he "named names" to the House Un-American Activities Committee. Some of his movies include: Hell of Frisco Bay, This Gun For Hire, and The American Venus. He passed away in 1963 at the age of 70.
