A Linenbacked 1950s Travel Poster (measures 24 3/4" x 40" [63 x 102 cm]) (Learn More)

TWA: Paris, the 1950s airplane airline aviation travel poster promoting travel to Paris, France aboard TWA (Trans World Airlines), and featuring David Klein art of the golden statues in front of the Museum Palais de Chaillot, at the Trocadero next to the Eiffel Tower.
Artist: David Klein
Important Added Info: Note that (as with other airlines' travel posters) there were more than one version of the same poster. In the 1950s, they had one kind of airplane in the background, and in the 1960s they switched to a different kind of airplane. We have noted which version (and decade) this poster is from in the title area.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had pinholes in the corners and a diagonal crease in the bottom left corner. It once had a piece of tape in the bottom right corner. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
