Date Sold 4/27/2017 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 2 Original 1960 (from the first release of this movie in Switzerland) Vintage Theatrical Swiss Lobby Cards (LCs; measure (measure from 10 1/2" x 11 1/2" [27 x 29 cm] to 9" x 13 1/4" [23 x 34 cm])) (Learn More) Shichinin No Samurai (released in the U.S. in 1956 as "The Magnificent Seven", and in other English-speaking countries as "The Seven Samurai"), the classic 1954 Akira Kurosawa Japanese hired-professionals-save-a-tiny-town action epic (this great movie was the basis for the equally classic "The Magnificent Seven", it won the New York Film Critics award and was nominated for two Oscars!) starring Toshiro Mifune, Takashi Shimura, Seiji Miyaguchi, Yoshio Inaba, and Minoru Chiaki. Note that this film was first released in the U.S. under the title "The Magnificent Seven". We're not sure when the U.S. title was changed to the now familiar "The Seven Samurai", but it was certainly before the 1960 "The Magnificent Seven" was released (we have found newspaper ads from 1957 that still use the original title). Important Added Info: Note that these items are glued to a stiff board (they were intended to be displayed in Switzerland similar to many lobby cards from that country). Note also that the boards have metal grommets inserted into each corner, to make displaying of the items far easier. Condition: good. The cards were are glued to a Swiss LC board (see above).
