A 1963 Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Two-Panel (known in Italy as a "4 Fogli") Movie Poster (2p; measures 55" x 78" [140 x 198 cm]) (Learn More) Lifeboat, the classic 1943 Alfred Hitchcock (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) World War II (WWII) shipwreck survivor suspense melodrama ("Out of man's rawest emotions - comes the most amazing drama life ever staged!"; based on the story by John Steinbeck; set entirely on a lifeboat adrift on the Atlantic ocean, which has eight survivors from a ship torpedoed by a Nazi U-boat, and it also has a German sailor from the U-boat, but the other eight survivors don't know that!) starring Tallulah Bankhead, William Bendix, Walter Slezak, Mary Anderson, John Hodiak, Henry Hull, Heather Angel, Hume Cronyn, and Canada Lee. Note that Alfred Hitchcock was famous for having cameo roles in his movies, but because this movie had no other characters other than the lifeboat survivors, he could not appear in the usual way (but he included a scene where a floating newspaper is shown that has his picture on it)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Enzo Nistri Important Added Info: Note that this is a very unusual poster. Apparently, the Italian distributor who re-released this in 1963 did not think that Italian audiences would be very interested by the actual movie (which is confined to the nine survivors of a sunken ship, all in a single lifeboat), so instead, a really cool poster image was drawn by Nistri, which shows the beginning of the movie, where a ship is in the crosshairs of a German U-boat, which is EXTREMELY misleading as to what the movie is about! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at just a few crossfolds and some small tears on parts of some folds. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
