Rudolph Valentino was a legendary Italian actor from the 1910s to the 1920s. He was the original "Latin Lover". Some of his movies include: The Sheik, The Son of the Sheik, and The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Sadly, Valentino passed away from peritonitis on August 23, 1926 at the age of 31, and at the height of his fame.
Important Added Info: How cool is this! Someone named Mathilde E. Scommoda was invited to Rudolph Valentino's "high funeral mass", which was held on Monday, August 30, 1926 at St. Malachy's Church in New York City. She was sent an invitation card through the mail, and it says on the card "this card must be presented for admission to the church. It is also necessary for passage of Automobile through Police Traffic Lines." Surely this was one of the most desired invitations imaginable in 1926, and we bet Mathilde could have sold this for a pretty penny to some ardent fan of Valentino's. It comes together with the original envelope she was mailed it in (and it was sent to her by "special delivery", which in 1926 cost 10 cents extra), and also a vintage postcard of Valentino from The Son of the Sheik. We can't imagine many of these survive, and of course, this could be framed together with the postcard. Finally, note that when this lady attended the funeral, she took the time to write a bunch of names on the back of the envelope detailing who she saw present, which included Gloria Swanson, Douglas Fairbanks, and George Jessel, and she also made note of "mourners", including Mary Pickford, Norma and Constance Talmadge, and Pola Negri (see our image)!

Condition: very good.
