An Original Vintage Unfolded Special Movie Poster (measures 34 1/2" x 46 3/4" [88 x 119 cm]) (Learn More)

Sympathy for the Devil (released in other English-speaking countries as "One Plus One"), the 1968 (premiered in the U.S. in April 1969, and widely distributed in the U.S. in 1970) Jean-Luc Godard English rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) blues music documentary (about counter-culture in the late 1960s) featuring the Rolling Stones (Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman), Anne Wiazemsky, Iain Quarrier, Clifton Jones, and Danny Daniels. Note that the producers of this film deleted 11 minutes, added footage of the Rolling Stones performing the title song, and changed the title (from One Plus One) without telling Godard. When Godard discovered this, he punched a producer during a talk at London's National Film Theatre. We have also found reference on the Internet to the U.S. distributor of the movie further changing it prior to its U.S. release in 1969, but we are not certain if this is correct. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we found references on the Internet to this poster having been created for the U.S. premiere in April 1969, and that 100 copies were printed. But the people who say that all seem to have taken it from each other, and we can find no verification of that. We have heard from an advanced collector who tells us that the image on the poster was taken in June of 1969, so the poster is surely from after that, likely from when the movie was first widely distributed in 1970, but surely this unusual size poster was not sent to regular theaters! We do know that an example of this poster auctioned at Christie's in 1995 for $12,650 and that another example auctioned the following year for $4,025, and that several more examples have auctioned over the 22 years following, but not many! Here is an opportunity to purchase a really cool and iconic rock 'n' roll movie poster, but please bear in mind that we don't know exactly when it was created, and exactly how many were printed (but we feel certain it is an original poster from the U.S. release of this movie, very likely from 1970).

UPDATED 08/13/2018: Note that we have updated the Important Added Info section.

Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had a 3" tear in the top border that extended into the very top of the "I" of "ROLLING", and someone put conservation tape on the back of that area. It has small paper loss in the top right blank corner and small tears and small paper loss in the top of the right border. It has a single pinhole in each corner and a few very tiny tears in the borders beyond the ones mentioned above. The poster could certainly be displayed as it is, or it would be a very simple job to have it linenbacked and correct the above minor defects.
