An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Deadly Mantis, the 1957 Nathan Juran Universal giant insect praying mantis science fiction (sci-fi) monster horror thriller ("This was the day that engulfed the world in terror!"; "The most dangerous monster that ever lived!"; "Out of a million years ago...a thousand tons of horror!"; "Shattering the icy shackles!"; "Hungering for human prey!"; "Dwarfing man's machines!"; "Jet planes can't stop him"; "Flamethrowers no avail!"; "Trapped by science!"; "This was the day that engulfed the world in terror!") starring Craig Stevens, Alix Talton, William Hopper, Florenz Ames, and Donald Randolph NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Ken Sawyer Condition: very good. The poster had a triangular area of paper loss with three tiny areas of paper loss to the right of that at the right of the top crossfold, just above the top foldline. The paper loss was primarily in the blue background area, but just slightly in the edge of the head of the mantis (around 1" long). There was an area of paper loss 4" to the left of that, an oval approximately 1" long, running partly in the edge of the mantis' body and in the blue background next to it. There were some stains on the back of the poster in the top left of the image, in the tip of the mantis' antenna and in the blue and yellow backgrounds to the left of that. There was tiny paper loss at the bottom two crossfolds and some minor wear on the foldlines and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was quite nicely backed, and the restoration to the above defects was well done and is really not at all distracting. I would think any collector would be quite happy to display this great poster on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
