An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (26 1/2" x 40 1/2") (Learn More)

The Silent Lie (also released as "Camille of the Yukon"), the 1917 Raoul Walsh silent romantic Alaska gambling infidelity melodrama ("Based on Larry Evans' Alaskan Novel 'Camille of the Yukon'"; about a young woman whose mother runs away from her father with a stranger, and she is raised by her father, but he runs a gambling casino in the Yukon, and she discovers he cheats his customers, and she informs on him and runs off, and she has many adventures!) starring Miriam Cooper, Ralph Lewis, Charles Clary, Monroe Salisbury and Henry A. Barrows. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Also, note that the IMDb says that "Camille of the Yukon" is a re-release title, but there is nothing whatsoever on this poster to indicate that it is not first release, and we believe that their information is incorrect, and that it was initially released under both titles. Note that the one-sheet with the title "Camille of the Yukon" has a great image of the lead female sitting in a primitive Alaskan gambling casino, serving as the dealer in a game of faro, with a large number of chips bet on the number six, and her father, the owner of the casino, is watching her intently! If anyone knows more about this movie or its posters, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a very interesting group of silent one-sheets from the late 1910s and early 1920s that were found under a carpet in a VERY old house! We have no idea why, but at some point in the early 1920s, someone took around 30 one-sheet posters and placed them in a stack under a carpet (perhaps to hide them?). They stayed there undisturbed for the next 75 or so years, until someone ripped up the carpet and found them. MANY OF THE POSTERS HAD SUSTAINED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE, WHILE OTHERS WERE NOT THAT DAMAGED AT ALL. We are selling half of the posters from this unusual find this week on eBay (in 14 separate auctions), and we will sell the other half as separate auctions at some later date. All of these posters absolutely need expert professional restoration (obviously, some will require much more restoration than others), but in many cases, the poster we are offering may well be the only surviving example of that poster, so it would seem they are all well worth "rescuing". But please do not bid on any of these posters unless you have read our description of their condition, and have carefully studied our super-sized image, and unless you are prepared to pay to have the poster properly restored. Note that some of the posters measure different sizes (some may be trimmed) and we have noted their sizes. Finally, note that all of these posters are quite fragile, and we will send them rolled in a sturdy tube. Note that this one-sheet measures 26 1/2" x 40 1/2". Please do not bid on this poster thinking it is 27" x 41".

Condition: poor. There is major paper loss down the lower left of the poster (but we have sold an example of this poster before that was complete, so we could provide an image to the buyer, so that their restorer could have a guide with which to accurately re-create the missing area). There is a great deal of light staining on the back of the poster, some of which bleeds through to the front.
