An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Tuntematon sotilas (released in English-speaking countries as "The Unknown Soldier"), the 1955 Edvin Laine Finnish World War II (WWII) Finland military melodrama ("The tremendous epic of the ordinary soldier in World War II"; "Based on the novel by Vainno Linna"; about a group of Finnish soldiers defending the country from Russian attack) starring Kosti Klemela, Heikki Savolainen, Reino Tolvanen, Veikko Sinisalo, and Ake Lindman. Note that the movie was submitted to the Cannes Film Festival, but it presented the Russians in an unfavorable light and political pressure was put on the Cannes people and the movie was withdrawn! Artist: Peter Strausfeld Important Added Info: Note that this is a special British quad printed for "The Academy Cinema". This was a major English cinema that had its own posters created and printed for movies they were showing (these were made during the first English showing of those movies). We have previously auctioned a British Quad from the regular release of this movie (with similar printing), but this is the first time we have auctioned this poster from the Academy Cinema! Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has very slight discoloration in the two corners at right but those area are hardly noticeable on the front and barely noticeable on back (see our image).
