An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Adventures of Jane Arden, the 1939 Terry O. Morse detective newspaper crime thriller ("That daring girl reporter solves a baffling murder case."; "Based on the popular action cartoon strip!"; "Based on the popular cartoon feature!"; "Based on the comic strip created by Monte Barrett & Russell E. Ross") starring Rosella Towne (in the title role as Jane Arden), William Gargan, James Stephenson, Benny Rubin, and Dennie Moore. Note that the comic strip this movie was based on began in 1928, and in 1937, it was given a radio show as well. This movie was intended to be the first in a series, but that did not happen, for reasons we do not know, because this was apparently a solid B-movie. Also note that star Rosella Towne lived a long life, and passed away in 2014 at the age of 96. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet features great cartoon art of the newspaper "Jane Arden" side-by-side with her movie counterpart, and also several panels simulating the source comic strip art! Condition: good to very good. This poster was linenbacked, and it had fairly significant defects which were somewhat repaired during the linenbacking process (we describe both the defects as well as the quality of the restoration below). You should also look at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). the poster had small tears and tiny areas of paper loss down the vertical foldline; there were holes at each crossfold; there was paper loss at the right of the middle fold in the blank border; there were some smudges in the yellow background areas; the person who backed the poster did slight restoration to the vertical foldline, but this poster would benefit from additional restoration (a talented restorer could do additional restoration without re-backing the poster), and it would look fantastic!
