Appears in Vintage Hollywood Posters 7 CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Thirty by Forty Movie Poster (measures 30" x 40") (Learn More) Walt Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, the classic 1955 Richard Fleischer Walt Disney underwater science fiction (sci-fi) scuba diving adventure thriller ("The Mightiest Motion Picture Of Them All!"; "Based on the novel by Jules Verne") starring Kirk Douglas, James Mason (as Captain Nemo), Paul Lukas, Peter Lorre, Robert J. Wilke, Ted de Corsia, and Carleton Young. Note that the studio claimed that Kirk Douglas did all of his scenes himself, refusing a stunt double, even for the "thrilling and dangerous underwater scenes"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. There are many small tears around the edges of the poster, some extend into the border around the image, and one (the one in the middle of the right border) extends just past the edge of the border art; there are smudges and creases around the edges of the poster; there is a 8" horizontal crease that extends into the top right of the image, and there are a few creases near the center of the poster in the suits of the two men at center right; there is a light vertical crease going through the last zero of "20,000", and there is a tiny area of surface paper loss in the bottom center of the image; there are minor smudges in the light colored borders around the edges of the image. The poster is in much better condition than the above makes it sound! I have owned many older 30x40s, and the vast majority of them have lots of creases throughout the image area, which can be very distracting. THIS poster has very few creases within the image (the ones described above, and a few very minor other ones), and most of the defects in the poster are in the borders. I would think most collectors could happily display this poster just as it is, or any talented restorer could mount it and repair its minor defects, and afterwards, it would look great, and it would have little restoration anywhere on it!
