An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Special Movie Poster (measures 26 3/4" x 39 1/2") (Learn More)

Boris Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago, the classic 1965 David Lean (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English romantic Soviet Russia epic ("A Love Caught in the Fire of Revolution"; "Turbulent were the times and fiery was the love story of Zhivago, his wife... And the passionate tender Lara."; "From the most acclaimed novel of our time!"; "From the most acclaimed novel of our time come these brilliant character portrayals"; "The entertainment event of the year!"; "Based on the novel by Boris Pasternak"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Geraldine Chaplin ("as Tonya... Zhivago's gentle and adoring wife who endures his love for Lara, and pledges her love to him for all eternity."), Julie Christie ("as Lara... Zhivago's great love; She learns of life from Komarovsky, and, through Zhivago's love, becomes a woman of compassion."), Tom Courtenay (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; "as Pasha... The young, idealist student, who marries Lara, and later becomes the fanatic and embittered General Strelnikov."), Alec Guinness ("as Yevgraf... Zhivago's somber and mysterious half-brother; dedicated to the Party but never ceasing to care for Zhivago."), Siobhan McKenna ("as Anna... Tonya's mother, who brought young Zhivago into here family after the death of his mother, and raised him as a son."), Ralph Richardson ("as Alexander... Tonya's father, a cultivated, well-to-do professor, who loves the adopted Zhivago as his own son."), Omar Sharif (in the title role "as Zhivago... a man of peace drawn into the turmoil of war; a man of integrity and depth, torn by a love for two women."), Rod Steiger ("as Komarovsky... the shrewd opportunist lawyer who survives all regimes. Tiring of his mistress, he turns to her daughter, Lara."), Rita Tushingham ("as The Girl... born of the revolution and found years later: a shy girl, never to know if she is the child of Zhivago and Lara."), Klaus Kinski, and Ingrid Pitt. Note that David Lean had shot Lawrence of Arabia in "Super Panavision 70", which was a 70mm process, and of course, that movie was a great success. He wanted to shoot this movie the exact same way, but MGM refused, and it was shot in "regular" 35mm Panavision. There are some English posters that were printed with "Super Panavision" on them, but the "Super" is blacked over on them (and the first release U.S. posters have solely "Panavision" on them).

Artist: M. Piotrowski
Important Added Info: Note that this is from a special set of nine posters printed in Italy for use in English speaking countries that showed this classic David Lean epic. There is a poster that is sort of a "title card" (it is in a horizontal format), and then there are eight other posters, each of which has artwork by M. Piotrowski of the eight top stars of the movie. Each poster has the star's name and their character's name at the bottom, and in the lower left or lower right of each poster is printed "Printed in Italy by ROTOLITO ROMA". I can't imagine many of these sets were made, and given their large size, I doubt many survive, especially in better condition. I have never seen or heard of even one of these posters before!

Condition: very good to fine. The poster has minor creases around the edges, a couple of tiny tears near the top of the right border, and a very few creases within the image, but overall, it has survived in about as good condition as one could imagine the poster surviving!
