An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian One-Panel Movie Poster (measures approximately 39" x 55") (Learn More)

Lo Sceicco Bianco (released in the U.S. as "The White Sheik"), the 1952 Federico Fellini Italian Arabian romantic love triangle marriage adventure comedy ("A very funny picture by Federico Fellini"; written by Michelangelo Antonioni; about a woman on her honeymoon, who happens to be where a famous Latin lover movie star is filming a movie, and she imagines being with him instead of her dull husband) starring Alberto Sordi (in the title role as The White Sheik), Brunella Bovo, Leopoldo Trieste, Ernesto Almirante, Lilia Landi, Fanny Marchio, Gina Mascetti, Jole Silvani, Enzo Maggio, Anna Primula, Mimo Billi, Armando Libianchi, and Giulietta Masina. Note that this was the first feature film that Fellini directed entirely by himself, and that the idea for this movie was given to Fellini by Michelangelo Antonioni!

Important Added Info: Note that this Italian poster measures approximately 39" x 55" and is linenbacked. Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this Italian Fellini movie!

Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!).

The poster had paper loss at the top crossfold and many small tears down the vertical foldline between the top crossfold and the bottom of the poster and across the top horizontal foldline. Other than the above defects, the poster was in pretty nice condition prior to backing. The person who backed the poster pretty much just backed it (they did a nice job on that) but they did not do much of any restoration to the many tears and small areas of paper loss. A talented restorer could likely greatly improve the appearance of the damaged areas without re-backing the poster. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster.
