Date Sold 6/30/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Folded World War II Poster (measures 28 1/2" x 40" [72 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Doing All You Can, Brother?, the 1943 U.S. World War II (WWII) War Bond poster ("Buy War Bonds") used to encourage citizens to purchase war bonds, and featuring Robert Smullyan Sloan art of a soldier with a bandaged head and a blood-stained uniform standing in a barren field with broken/abandoned machinery, and the implication is obvious that soldiers are risking life and limb, and certainly, civilians could buy some war bonds to "do their part". This poster certainly seems not only "heavy handed" to today's world, but outright "over the top", but of course America during World War II knew that the Nazis could potentially conquer the entire world and they wanted to make sure every citizen did all they could to keep that from happening, and posters like this certainly drove that message home! Artist: Robert Smullyan Sloan Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a remarkable group of around 100 guaranteed authentic mostly war posters (around 75 war posters, plus 25 others, including political ones) mostly dating from before 1900 through 1945, with 15 from after that date! These were originally acquired by an archive decades ago, and they have been in storage ever since, until they were recently consigned to us. Many of these are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase any of these more than 100 posters! Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster had separation in the right 10" of the middle horizontal fold, with an uneven tear in the right border just below that fold. Someone put tape on the back of those areas. Otherwise, the poster is in nice condition, especially considering its age. Learn More about condition grades
