An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Japanese Export (printed for use in English speaking countries) "B1" Movie Poster (29x41; measures 28 1/2" x 40 1/2" [72 x 103 cm]) (Learn More) Gojira, Ebira, Mosura: Nankai no Daiketto (released in the U.S. in 1969 as "Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster" and released in other English-speaking countries as "Ebirah, Horror of the Deep"), the 1966 Jun Fukuda Japanese Toho kaiju battling rubbery monsters science fiction (sci-fi) thriller ("The crushing battle between Godzilla, Mothra, and Ebirah. Which will win?") starring Godzilla, Mothra, Ebirah (a giant lobster), Akira Takarada, Kumi Mizuno, Toru Watanabe, Hideo Sunazuka, and Chotaro Togin If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Japanese movie! Also note that this Japanese B1 poster was printed in Japan, but was intended to be used when the movie was shown in English speaking countries. Finally, note that this is a rare Japanese "B1" poster that measures 28 1/2" x 40 1/2" [72 x 103 cm]! "B1" posters are FAR more rare than "B2" posters (which measure approximately 20" x 28 1/2"), and because they are larger (similar in size to a U.S. one-sheet), they are more impressive when displayed on a wall! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines (typical of high-gloss posters of this period). It had minor wear in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but after it was backed, it was roughly handled, and it acquired creases down the excess linen on the right side, which very slightly affects the poster in the upper right border, with small creases. This could certainly be diminished by placing the poster under weight, and of course, it would pretty much not show at all if the poster is framed, but please bear in mind this defect before bidding on this poster.
