Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (measures approximately 15" x 40") (Learn More)

Wages for Wives, the 1925 Frank Borzage silent equality-for-women comedy ("How much is a wife worth?"; "A John Golden play hit"; based on a play by John Golden; far ahead of its time, about wives going "on strike" and their husbands are forced to ineptly do the housework!) starring Jacqueline Logan, Creighton Hale, Earle Foxe, Zasu Pitts, Claude Gillingwater, and David Butler. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: This poster was folded originally. But it has been laying completely flat for many many years, and we strongly advise letting us send it in a tube, rather than folding it!

Condition: fair to good. it appears that around 3/4" was trimmed from the right blank border, down the entire right side of the poster; there is a large area of water staining in the bottom half of the word "WIVES" and continuing down into the right side of the actors' credits; there is a similar area of staining down the top right 4" of the poster ending at the top of "WAGES"; there are long thin areas of paper loss across three foldlines (including in the center image of the man with the cookbook); there are stains, smudges, areas of paper loss, creases, and small tears around the edges of the poster. Note that this was one of a group of 24 daybills from the 1920s and 1930s that were found together. All have significant condition defects, but many are quite attractive and some may well be the only (or one of a few) surviving examples! But please read the condition descriptions closely and do not bid on any of these 24 posters unless you can accept their defects or are willing to have them restored!
