Date Sold 11/20/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Falcon in Danger, the 1943 William Clemens World War II (WWII) airplane aviation terrorism detective mystery crime thriller (about a passenger plane that crashes at a small airport, but there is no one on the plane at all; The Falcon investigates and finds it is part of a terrorist plot against the government) starring Tom Conway (in the title role as The Falcon), Jean Brooks, Elaine Shepard ("a top Manhattan model and billboard beauty" making her film debut), Amelita Ward, Cliff Clark, Clarence Kolb, and Erford Gage. Note that this is one of twelve movies that starred Tom Conway as The Falcon. In the first three movies, George Sanders (who had previously played "The Saint" in a series of movies) played The Falcon, but he apparently tired of the role, and wanted to leave, and instead of ending the series, or having a new actor play the role, he passed it on to Tom Conway in the fourth movie, "The Falcon's Brother" (they played brothers in the movie and in real life they were brothers!) in a clever move, the script had George Sanders' character killed, and his brother, played by Tom Conway, shows up and solves his murder, and becomes the "new" Falcon; and Conway went on to make a total of twelve Falcon movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have been consigned five different one-sheets from this series of movies, which was made by RKO as an imitation of Leslie Charteris' The Saint. There were twelve movies in all, and they are rarely offered for sale or at auction, but we are currently auctioning all five in separate auctions Condition: fair to good. Many of the folds at center have fully separated and the poster is somewhat fragile. There is paper loss in the crossfolds and some other defects. The poster is in need of restoration, and certainly a competent restorer could repair the defects described above, but please bear in mind the cost of restoration before placing a bid.
