An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style D One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Back Street, the 1941 Robert Stevenson romantic melodrama (based on the novel by Fannie Hurst; about a woman who intends to marry a man, but circumstances prevent that from happening, and they separate for many years, and reunite when the man is married, but the woman has a "back street" affair with him) starring Charles Boyer, Margaret Sullavan, Richard Carlson, Frank McHugh, Tim Holt, Samuel S. Hinds, Esther Dale, and Nell O'Day. Note that this movie was a remake of the 1932 movie of the same name with Irene Dunne and John Boles, and was itself remade in 1961 by producer Ross Hunter, with Susan Hayward and John Gavin. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had a triangular area of paper loss at the top crossfold that affected Sullavan's cheek and the middle of her nose. There were small tears and tiny paper loss in the vertical fold in Boyer's nose and the bottom of his forehead. There were tears and small areas of paper loss in parts of the rest of the folds, with some tears and paper loss around the edges. The upper right blank border was slightly trimmed. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. Given the poster's many defects, the restorer did a pretty good job, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
