An Original Vintage Stage Play Poster (measures 28" x 41 1/2" [71 x 105 cm]) (Learn More)

Fogg's Ferry, the 1893 stage play production ("The new comedy drama"; "The NEW Fogg's Ferry"; "By Chas. E. Callahan"; "'Don't kill me, Mammy!'"). We were able to determine that the playwright, Charles Edward Callahan lived from 1845 to 1917, but we could find no further information (and Fogg's Ferry appears to be a fictional location). A knowledgeable collector tells us that this was a late 1800s touring stage show which centered around the character of the daughter of a wealthy judge. If anyone knows more about this stage play, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: The poster was placed on to a very thin linen backing shortly after being printed. The purpose was to reinforce the poster, so that it would survive, when it was passed from theater to theater, and when it was put up on walls and taken down. Such posters can be professionally removed from the original linen and placed on to a proper linen backing. I have done this to several such posters, and they end up looking wonderful!

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. There are many tears of varying lengths and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster, and it is "lifting" from the old linen in several places (see our image).
