(Learn More) Follow the Fleet, the classic 1936 Mark Sandrich military Navy sailor romantic musical ("Clear the decks for action!..."; "They're the life of the Navy... in the musical gem of the ocean!"; "Irving Berlin composed the salty songs and tantalizing tunes"; "A 21-gun salute to the mirth of a nation! ...with more new dances... more new songs... more new things to make you laugh and thrill and tingle than you've ever seen or heard before!"; "In the Super-Dreadnaught of musical shows"; "Strike up the band!... Here come the king and queen rhythm... in the super-dread-naught of musical shows!"; "Based on the play 'Shore Leave' by Hubert Osborne"; "Lyrics and music by Irving Berlin who gives you a broadside of Song Hits"; about two sailors on leave in San Francisco and they are romancing two pretty performers) starring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Randolph Scott, Betty Grable, Harriet Hilliard (billed as "Harriet Nelson"), Astrid Allwyn, Lucille Ball, "and scores of glorious girls and go-get 'em gobs hitting the high spots afloat and ashore!". Note that this was one of the nine wonderful movies that Astaire and Rogers made between 1933 and 1939 (they made one final movie, "The Barkleys of Broadway", thirteen years later in 1949). Important Added Info: Note that the cover of this wonderful pressbook folds out and reveals a great full-color image of Astaire & Rogers dancing, and it actually has a real red felt pennant glued to the lower part of that page with the title on it (see our image)! The pressbook also has an original small full-color herald tipped in to one of the back pages and also a large newspaper style herald that comes with the pressbook as well. Also note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This pressbook contains the original herald that was included with it, and it is pictured next to the pressbook below. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut, but the covers are separated at the spine and there is wear around the edges of many pages. There is one interior page that has a 6" tear in the middle right. There are faint stains and smudges across the lower part of the cover (running through the center of both stars' faces, caused by the glue from the felt pennant on the back of the front cover; see above).
