An Original Vintage Autographed 8" x 10" Still (Learn More) Anna Sten was a Russian/Swedish (born in Kiev, what is now Ukraine) actress from the 1920s to the 1950s. Samuel Goldwyn saw her in a German movie, and thought she could become another Garbo or Dietrich, and he signed her to a Hollywood contract, not knowing she could not speak English! After a year of intensive English studying, Goldwyn cast her as the lead in "Nana", but the movie was not very successful, and Goldwyn made two more movies with her, but then gave up, and she only made a handful more movies. Some of her movies include: Devushka s Korobkoy, So Ends Our Night, The Wedding Night, Bomben auf Monte Carlo, and We Live Again. She passed away in 1993 at the age of 84. Important Added Info: The still was given to producer Alex Gordon by Anna Sten, and she signed it as follows: "To Alex Gordon with whom it is a pleasure to work & create, Anna Sten". The photo has been consigned directly from Ruth and Alex Gordon! Condition: good to very good. There is a large diagonal corner off of the lower right of the still, but fortunately, it does not affect the signature, and only part of Miss Sten's sleeve is affected.
