An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47" x 62" [119 x 157 cm]) (Learn More)

Les Enfants d'Edouard (released in the U.S. in 1910 as "The Children of Edward IV"), the 1909 Andre Calmettes French silent England royalty children crime murder melodrama starring Philippe Garnier, Henry Krauss (billed as "Ch. Krauss"; in the title role as Edward IV), Olga Demidiff, Rolla Norman, and Renee Pre. Note that the art on the poster is a recreation of a painting by Paul Delaroche, showing the two princes who were imprisoned in the Tower of London and smothered on the orders of Richard III (their uncle).
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this French poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie! Also note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II (mostly only pre-war heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some folds, with some smudges and scuffs in the bottom credits area. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
