Cobain formed the band Nirvana with Krist Novoselic in 1987 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene and grunge genre. On April 8 1994, Cobain was found dead in his home in Seattle, the victim of what was officially ruled a suicide. He was 27, becoming another member of the "27 Club". Cobain was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, along with Nirvana bandmates Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl, in their first year of eligibility.
