An Original Vintage Theatrical German Movie Campaign Book (measures 10" x 13 1/4" [25 x 34 cm]; 42 pages) (Learn More) UFA 1925-26 (also known as "Parufamet 1925-1926"), the 1925 German campaign book featuring art and information about upcoming Parufamet productions (this was at the time when Paramount Pictures and MGM bailed out UFA, which had overextended itself and was on the verge of bankruptcy, and in return, the company was renamed "Parufamet", and it had to distribute 20 films from each American studio in Germany each year). So the pages of this book have wonderful German ads for American movies, including Go West (Buster Keaton), American Venus (Louise Brooks), Sally of the Sawdust (D.W. Griffith and W.C. Fields), Ben-Hur, Redskin, Battling Butler, The Big Parade, and many more. Note that this book has much artwork for the movies that were being made at that time, and this book is REALLY elaborate, with each movie getting from 1 to 4 pages, all full-page full-color images, and high production values (most of the UFA campaign books we have seen are from the late 1930s and earlier 1940s, and are much simpler, without color, and we suspect that they had to cut back on how much they spent because of the costs of World War II). Note that even though this campaign book was likely sent to many theater owners, it appears that very few examples have survived (and surely German editions of campaign books are even more rare than those sent to U.S. theater owners, both because of German World War II paper drives, and because the ones made during World War II have Nazi content!). I have been a collector of campaign books and related material for many years, and I know for certain that this campaign book is beyond rare! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is an incomplete campaign book. There are 42 of the pages from this 1925-26 book, numbered between page 29 and 120. One would certainly wish to have the entire campaign book, but we have NEVER seen any German campaign book from before 1938, and those from the 1930s and 1940s are beyond rare themselves! Note: We have images of the ALL pages from this incomplete campaign book that are present, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 12 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 2. Condition: fair. This campaign book is incomplete and only 42 pages are present. Each of them has three areas at the spine where the binding was, along with some tiny holes caused by the binding, but those defects are solely in the spine area. Other than a few small tears or slight stains on a few of the pages, they are in nice condition. But please bear in mind that you are only bidding on 21 loose sheets (each printed on both sides to create 42 pages) before bidding on this item. Learn More about condition grades
