An Original Vintage Folded World War II Poster (measures 29 3/4" x 38" [76 x 97 cm]) (Learn More) You Can't Afford to Miss Either!, the 1944 U.S. World War II (WWII) War Bonds poster ("Buy bonds every payday") encouraging the public to continue to buy war bonds, and featuring Martha Sawyers art of a gunner with a Japanese airplane crashing in the background. Of course, the title of the poster refers to the need for pilots to have deadly accuracy when shooting down enemy planes, and that they need to be accurate every time, and drawing a connection to the public needing to not "miss" buying bonds on any payday! Artist: Martha Sawyers Important Added Info: Years ago, some collector had this poster mounted onto foamcore. While most collectors do not like this, I have seen many posters that have been mounted on foamcore for years, and it never has any ill effects on the poster, so I am not sure why there is a bias against it Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Some of these items can ONLY be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. On some of them (for example if it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: fair. The poster was glued to foam core and the glue has rippled several portions of the poster. It has separation in several folds and the foam core has been folded in half which creases the center horizontal fold. In addition, the foam core accidentally was folded back at one time several inches above the center horizontal fold and that area has been repaired with tape from the back. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid and please do not bid unless you can accept the defects described above, or you are willing to pay to have them properly restored.
