A 1947 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Warning! The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that many people consider the regular 1931 one-sheet from "Frankenstein" to be somewhat disappointing, because the image of the monster is pretty small. In addition, the poster sells for hundreds of thousands of dollars, putting it out of reach for all but the wealthiest of collectors. But this 1947 re-release has a wonderful large close up image of Karloff as the monster, similar to that of the 1931 teaser one-sheet. Note that this is an extremely rare poster, and that many of the known examples have been linenbacked. This example has not only never been linenbacked, but it has also NEVER had any restoration of any kind! It will certainly likely be the centerpiece of the collection of the person who purchases it!

Condition: very good. The poster has very tiny paper loss at each crossfold and 8" of clean separation (no paper loss) in the middle of the bottom foldline (entirely in the red background above the director credit). There are eight tiny circular holes within the image, evenly spaced down the center of the poster. The top two are at top center, one above the "K" of "FRANKENSTEIN", and the other 4" to the right of that in the top of the first "N". The second pair are is in the upper middle of the image, with the left one in the solid white above Karloff's eye and the right one at the edge of Karloff's other eye. The next two are in the top of the credits, with the left one in the "H" of "WITH", and the right one in the middle of the "I" of "CLIVE". The final pair is in the bottom center of the image, with the left one in the solid background and the right one in the dress of the fainted Hobson. There are some creases and a very tiny tear in the top and bottom of the left blank border. THE ABOVE IS EVERYTHING THAT IS "WRONG" WITH THIS POSTER! THE EIGHT TINY HOLES ARE TRULY VERY TINY, AND ARE NOT VERY NOTICEABLE EVEN WHEN YOU LOOK CLOSE UP. Other than the above, the poster is in truly quite nice condition, and it has never had any sort of restoration of any kind!
