An Original Vintage Theatrical 7 3/4" x 9 1/2" Movie Still (Learn More)

Louisiana Purchase, the 1941 Irving Cummings political corruption musical comedy ("The greatest musical comedy ever filmed in Technicolor!"; "The greatest musical comedy ever filmed with 100 Louisiana lovelies!"; "Based on the Musical Comedy by Morrie Ryskind From a small story by B.G. De Sylva"; "Music and Lyrics by Irving Berlin"; "From a story by B.G. De Sylva"; about a naive man who is picked by corrupt Louisiana politicians to take the fall for crimes they've committed) starring Bob Hope, Vera Zorina, Victor Moore, Irene Bordoni, Dona Drake, Raymond Walburn, and "Those Louisiana Lovelies - The Cream of the Crop!" (referred to as "The 13 Louisiana Belles" in other publicity). Note that Paramount was afraid of lawsuits from real life Louisiana politicians, so they made significant changes from the Broadway play the movie was based on, and they even had many references in the movie to the fact that the "Louisiana" referred to was a mythical place, and not the actual Louisiana!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of Irving Berlin sitting next to Vera Zorina, "checking the tunes" from the movie. Also note that there is a paper snipe glued on the front and back of the still that describes the scene on the front. There is a stamp on the back of the still that reads, "CREDIT WILL BE APPRECIATED PARAMOUNT PHOTO BY TALMAGE MORRISON". The still measures 7 3/4" x 9 1/2", but it does not appear to be trimmed.

Condition: very good. The snipe is lightly glued to the bottom of the front of the still (and also the back), but it could be easily removed by a professional or talented amateur. Otherwise, the still is in quite nice condition!
