An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #6 (The Spell of Evil) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 40 1/2" [69 x 103 cm]) (Learn More)

A Fight for Millions, the 1918 William Duncan silent romantic love triangle inheritance action thriller serial ("Vitagraph's greatest photoplay serial"; "By Albert E. Smith and Cyrus Townsend Brady"; about a woman who is an heiress to a gold mine, but she must marry within one year to inherit and she has to choose between two men) starring William Duncan, Edith Johnson, Joe Ryan, Willia Calles, and Walter Rodgers. The only poster we have ever seen shows people in a frozen forest with snowshoes that makes us think it is likely set in Canada or Alaska, and there is a gold mine involved, so that makes that more likely, but we couldn't find more information. If anyone knows more about this serial, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that the poster measures 27" x 40 1/2". It was almost certainly trimmed from 28" x 42", but we have never seen another example of the poster to compare it to.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The blank borders of the poster were somewhat trimmed (see above). The poster had tears and areas of paper loss scattered down the vertical fold, with some on each of the horizontal folds. There were pinholes, tears, paper loss, and stains around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
