An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More)

China Bound, the 1929 Charles Reisner silent China romantic war screwball comedy (Scotsman Arthur is in love with his boss' daughter, and the boss takes her on a cruise to China to get away from him, but Arthur gets on the boat, and with the aid of a coal shoveler, he follows the girl to China where they get involved in a revolution, but ultimately, he rescues the girl and wins her father's support!) starring Karl Dane, George K. Arthur, Josephine Dunn, Polly Oran, Carl Stockdale, and Harry Woods. Note that Karl Dane and George K. Arthur appeared in two of the same movies in the mid-1920s, and then in 1927, MGM paired the huge Dane with the diminutive Arthur as a comedy team in 1927's "Rookies", and they were a huge hit, and over the next four years, they appeared in a total of 17 comedies as a Laurel & Hardy-like slapstick comedy team. But Dane had a very thick accent, and he could not make the transition to sound movies, and he had a few bit parts given to him by friends, but by 1934, he was washed up, and he bought a hot dog cart which he displayed outside of the MGM gates! Apparently, he reasonably found this extremely depressing, and he soon committed suicide. The following year, Arthur retired from movies and became a Broadway producer among other careers, and he lived until 1985, when he was 86 years old!

Artist: Malcolm Eaton
Important Added Info: This window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Note that Malcolm Eaton created the art for this poster, and it is very difficult to find information about him! A very knowledgeable collector pointed out that he created the art for several Buster Keaton films such as Doughboys, Parlor, Bedroom and Bath, Baby Cyclone, Spite Marriage, The Cameraman and more. It is an interesting coincidence that Malcolm seems to have regularly worked on Keaton films, and their last names are very similar. If anyone knows more about the Malcolm Eaton, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: fair. There is a huge amount of tiny dots of surface paper loss scattered through the image (more so around the edges). There is a diagonal crease in the bottom right corner, and it is a tear in the bottom 2" of the crease.
