An Original Vintage Theatrical Special Poster (measures 23 3/4" x 29 3/4" ) (Learn More)

Billy Wilder was a famous director and writer from the 1930s to the 1980s. Some of his movies include: Sabrina (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), Sunset Blvd, Some Like It Hot (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), Double Indemnity, The Apartment, Witness for the Prosecution, and Stalag 17 (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film). He certainly produced more great hits (and ones of truly enduring high quality) than almost any other director! He passed away in 2002 at the age of 95.
Important Added Info: Note that this special poster is on a heavy thick board, and we feel certain it was created that way. It is similar to the 22x28 portraits of famous actors created from the 1910s to the 1940s, but those were not on heavy boards, and they measure just slightly smaller than this poster. It has no writing on the front or back, and we have never seen or heard of this poster before (the only other director who became so famous as to warrant his own special poster was Frank Capra, but that was in the 1930s. We would guess this poster is from the early to mid 1940s (perhaps from the time of Double Indemnity, judging from his age in the portrait). It will need to be shipped in a large heavy flat package.

Condition: good. The poster is on a heavy thick board, and we feel certain it was created that way. It has tape staining around the edges and there is a thin strip of tape on the back of each border, and we are not sure what the purpose of the tape was. There are tiny chips around the edges and some tiny scuffs and a few tiny scratches scattered in the image, with some water stains at middle left, and some stains in the right of Wilder's forehead and cheek.
