Note that the poster features Haskell Coffin artwork of Columbia (an early symbol of America, similar to Uncle Sam) holding a sword and a palm frond (a symbol for victory). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Haskell Coffin Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been laminated! It is quite likely that there is no way to reverse this process. However, I have seen many posters that have been laminated for over 20 years, and the lamination does not hurt the posters in any way, plus it seems to completely protect them, while allowing them to be easily displayed with no fear of damage. HOWEVER, PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS POSTER UNLESS YOU WANT TO PURCHASE A LAMINATED POSTER! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: fair. Note that this poster was at one time part of library collection and was laminated for its protection (there is a label on the back that reads "Map Case, European War 1914-18..." which indicates that it was most likely laminated before World War II!). Prior to the poster being laminated, there were two large vertical tears at left and right as well as several smaller tears around the edges of the poster. Those tears were repairs with clear tape from the front and back and then the poster was laminated (also on the front and back). There are light water stains in the background at left. There is a small label on the back of the upper left corner with a short description of the poster but the label does not appear to have any effect on the front. As mentioned above, the lamination process is quite likely not reversible. However, the poster is quite striking and could be displayed as is if one is willing to accept the tape repairs and lamination! Learn More about condition grades
