An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Campaign Book (measures 9 1/2" x 12"; 33 pages) (Learn More) UA Announcement of Product 1936-37, the 1936 United Artists campaign book, featuring upcoming United Artists movies and stars from movies that were planned for production by United Artists in the coming year. The campaign book includes mostly two-color images of ads for the major upcoming United Artists films including Dodsworth, Come and Get It (Frances Farmer), Pony Boy, The Garden of Allah (Dietrich), Ronald Colman (movie to be announced!), Rembrandt (Laughton), Knight Without Armor (Dietrich), I, Claudius (Laughton), Divorce of Lady X, Man Who Could Work Miracles, Three Time Loser (Tracy, Fonda & Sidney), Arabian Nights, Wuthering Heights (Sylvia Sidney & Charles Boyer!), 18 Walt Disney cartoons (9 Mickey Mouse and 9 Silly Symphonies), and much more! Note that, as was often the case with these campaign books, some of the movies advertised were either never made, had their titles changed before they were released, or were made with different casts than those announced in the campaign book! Note that, in the case of this particular campaign book, the movie "Three Time Loser" had its title changed to "You Only Live Once", and Spencer Tracy was dropped from the cast (I can't even imagine what character he was intended to play in the movie!). Also note that this campaign book announces Wuthering Heights with Sylvia Sidney & Charles Boyer, and of course, the movie was actually made with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon, and I can't even begin to imagine what it would've been like with Sidney and Boyer! Finally, note that the movie "I, Claudius", announced in this campaign book, was never completed (the studio abandoned it well into production). A BBC documentary was made in 1965, which included many of the completed scenes, and it would have been a fascinating movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. The book is spiral-bound with a plastic piece that connects the pages. Several of the pages have faint water stains in the part closest to the spine, and several are rippled in those areas. The cover of the book is covered with a felt-like material, and there are many scuffs and stains in the felt, and the material from the cover has stained the first two pages of the book (they are scattered red stains, mostly around the edges and a few in the interior of each page, and can be seen in our image). WE HAVE LOOKED THROUGH THIS BOOK VERY CAREFULLY, AND WE FEEL CERTAIN IT IS 100% COMPLETE, WITH NO MISSING PAGES OR CUT OUT PORTIONS! Learn More about condition grades
