An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) The Crystal Cup, the 1927 John Francis Dillon silent bisexual cross-dressing romantic love triangle melodrama (from the novel by Gertrud Franklin Atherton; about a rich young woman who is raped, and afterwards, she hates all men, and she cuts her hair short and dresses as a man; her grandmother begged her to just once go to a ball as a woman, and she does this after her grandmother dies; she meets a man there who falls madly in love with her, and he asks her to marry him, and she agrees, but "in name only"; later, she finds herself attracted to her husband's best friend, and that scares her, and she rejects him; later, her husband, who is going crazy with desire for her, tries to seduce her, and she shoots him, after which she realizes that she should marry her husband's friend, because "he is the only man who can awaken her 'feminine nature'") starring Dorothy Mackaill, Rockliffe Fellowes, Jack Mulhall, Clarissa Selwynne, and Jane Winton. Note that this is a MIGHTY unusual movie, and certainly incredibly ahead of its time. Except for the artificial "happy ending" (which was likely tacked on), it seems to feel very frankly with the subjects of cross-dressing, transsexualism, and bisexuality. It certainly is fascinating, but we could find little more than the above about the movie, and movie memorabilia from the film is beyond rare. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is not a regular glass slide. It has an image of a poster or trade ad that is "one-sheet" dimensions. It was placed in the center of the glass slide. It was surely created in 1927, but it is in no way a traditional glass slide, so bear this in mind before placing a bid. Also note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good to fine. The slide is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
