An Original Vintage Theatrical Die-Cut Movie Display (16 pieces, each measures from 13 1/2" x 21 1/2" to 21" x 27 1/2"; see below) (Learn More) Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, the classic 1933 George Cukor (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) coming-of-age melodrama ("Dear to the heart of every woman of every age... America's favorite love story..."; "In a glowing drama of yesterday... fresh with the sweetness of eternal spring"; "Forgotten corners of the human heart thrill to the radiance of Jo and Beth and Meg and Amy.... in Little Women"; "A new sensation of sheer loveliness glorifies the screen!"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; from the equally classic novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott) starring Katharine Hepburn ("In today's best-loved romance"; as Jo), Joan Bennett (as Amy), Paul Lukas (as Professor Bhaer), Frances Dee (as Meg), Jean Parker (as Beth), Edna May Oliver (as Aunt March), Douglass Montgomery, Henry Stephenson, Spring Byington (as Marmee), and John Lodge (billed as "John Davis Lodge"). There had been many adaptations of this classic novel, but almost everybody considers this to be the definitive version, and Katharine Hepburn to the be definitive Jo March! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a pretty amazing display, and it is even more amazing that it survived! It contains 16 pieces (each with two holes at top, so that they could have a string placed through them and then they could be hung on a wall or over a doorway), one for each letter of the title, plus three oval displays, one with the credits inside a framed border (just like the letters), and the other two blank, with an area for inserts of images of two of the stars (Katharine Hepburn and Frances Dee). This appears to be the complete display, and it is astounding that it has survived, not only because of its many pieces, but because they are all die-cut, and they would easily be lost or damaged, even if someone tried to preserve them. Of course, it is possible that there were once additional oval displays for the other main characters, but I doubt anyone will ever be able to confirm that, since the odds of another one of these sets of displays ever surfacing seems next to zero! Even if there were, this still will make an unbelievable display for any museum or public place, because the title is complete, and the two characters can be placed in their frames at both sides of the title! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. The pieces with the letters and credits are in excellent condition. The blank display designed for Hepburn's insert has a crease and small paper loss in the upper right. The blank insert for Dee's display has some creases in the upper center. The insert of Dee has some faint brown dot stains scattered throughout. The insert of Hepburn has a greater number of brown dot stains scattered throughout, with some tiny bits of surface paper loss in the green dress, in her arm, and in the very top center (see our image).
