An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 15" x 39 3/4" [38 x 101 cm]) (Learn More)

St. Elmo, the 1923 Jerome Storm silent romantic love triangle religious redemption melodrama (about a man named "St. Elmo Thornton" who finds his wife with another man and he shoots the man, but is acquitted under the laws of that time, and he decides he hates all women and he sets off on a trip around the world; but when he returns, he finds a woman is living with his mother, and she not only convinces him to change his views on women, but he also becomes a minister, and marries her) starring John Gilbert (in the title role as St. Elmo Thornton), Barbara La Marr, Bessie Love, Warner Baxter, Nigel De Brulier, and Lydia Knott. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Also note that Warner Baxter was born in 1889, and in the early 1920s he rose to prominence in silent movies, becoming a major star of the 1920s, while he was in his 30s. He won the Oscar for Best Actor as The Cisco Kid in "In Old Arizona" in 1929, and he remained a top star throughout the 1930s!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1923 movie posters from this John Gilbert movie are incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single poster (just a lobby card and a couple of stills) from this movie until we received this Australian daybill! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good to very good. There are three 2" tears in the upper right border, with one in the lower right border. There are many small tears and tiny bits of paper loss in the left and right blank borders, with some extra light horizontal folds, and some tiny brown dot stains in the bottom of the poster (see our image).
