An Original Vintage Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 113 pages) (Learn More) The Broadway Brawler, the 1996 movie script (about a washed up hockey player) written by Juliet Aires & Keith Giglio. There is a fascinating story behind this script and the movie that was never completed from it. The script was written at the end of 1996. Cinergi, a division of Disney run by Andy Vajna, bought the rights to it and signed Lee Grant as director and Bruce Willis as star (and as co-producer), and Maura Tierney (as co-star). But 20 days into production, filming was shut down. There are disputes as to what happened, but many say that Bruce Willis was unhappy with what had been filmed, and that he fired Lee Grant and several other executives. He then hired Dennis Dugan as the new director, but one day later, production shut down completely. Cinergi had spent $17 million to this point, not including Willis' salary (which was reported to be $7.5 million, a huge reduction from his regular $20 million fee). After desperately trying to "save" the movie, Disney agreed to pay off the $17 million spent so far, and Willis agreed to make two more movies for Disney for around $10 million per movie, so theoretically they could recover their loss by him taking a reduced salary. And it worked out that way, because the first of the two movies ended up being 1999's "The Sixth Sense", which was a mega hit! Maybe someday someone will write the full story of what occurred on the making of this movie, and why it was never completed (and maybe it will be re-filmed someday by a different cast and crew). Important Added Info: Note that this script is the revised production rewrite from December 19, 1996 and the screenplay was written by Juliet Aires & Keith Giglio. Our consignor is someone who worked on the crew of the movie, and he corroborates that the above information about the movie is correct. He adds that after a couple weeks, people started getting fired left and right, so he saw the end of the movie coming earlier. He adds that "Demi Moore flew in one weekend, and went through all the dailies with Bruce. After that, he said he wanted to pull the plug." As far as his overall experience goes, he says that "The only thing I regret was that we got to choose the names on the backs of the hockey jerseys, so we used relatives and friends, and that would have been cool to see on screen."! Condition: very good. See our multiple images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this script. Learn More about condition grades
