An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked English One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 26 3/4" x 39 1/2" [68 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Eyewitness, the 1956 Muriel Box English crime film noir ("You must see..."; about a woman who fights with her husband, and then leaves in a hurry and witnesses a crime, and is then hit by a bus and taken to a hospital, where the criminals wait for a chance to kill her, so there will be no witness to their crime) starring Donald Sinden, Muriel Pavlow, Belinda Lee, David Knight (billed as "with Guest Star David Knight"), and Susan Beaumont NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Someone overprinted the area in the lower right that read "Original Story and Screenplay by Janet Green" with black ink. Since we have seen other examples of this poster with the same area overprinted, it seems likely this was done by the studio (perhaps Janet Green was unhappy with the movie, and requested her name be taken off the credits). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. In any event, please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept the blacked out area (but as we say, it may be on all examples of the poster). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. As noted above, there is a credit at bottom right that was overprinted (this is true on all examples of this poster we have seen). The poster also had two horizontal folds at a slight diagonal and one partial extra vertical fold, also at a slight diagonal, and there were some small tears and small surface paper loss on parts of those folds, with pinholes in the corners. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
