A Vintage Autographed Dutch Hardcover Book (measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/2" [22 x 29 cm]; 65 pages) (Learn More)

Josephine Baker was a black African American stage performer, singer, and actress from the 1920s to the 1970s, who spent much time on stage, and made only a few movies. She went to Europe and achieved enormous success (and notoriety) in the Follies Bergere and other shows, because she danced nude in some of her dances. She only starred in two movies, both in the 1930s: Zou-Zou and Princess Tam-Tam, but she appeared in smaller roles in some movies in the 1920s and the 1940s and 1950s. She continued performing throughout her life, and was performing in a stage show, "An Evening with Josephine Baker", right up until she passed away in 1975, at the age of 68.
Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Josephine Baker (she wrote "Joyeux Noel")! Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic.

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.

Condition: good to very good. There are tears and small paper loss in the top and bottom of the dust jacket (see our images).
