Note that we have been unable to find any additional information about Hilson or his famous minstrels. If anyone knows more about either of these or this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been mounted onto a heavy board backing, and there was an 8" tear in the center of the top border, and the poster was printed slightly off-register. Note that we auctioned this poster before and the person who was the high bidder returned it because of the registration issue, and also because of how visible the tear is at top center. So please study our super-sized image closely to see exactly where the poster is printed off-register and how noticeable the tear is, before placing a bid on this poster. Condition: good. The poster was printed slightly off-register. The poster was dry-mounted to a heavy backing board. Before it was mounted, the poster had an 8" tear in the center of the top border and two smaller tears to the right of that, a 2" tear near the center of the bottom border, and paper loss in the right of the top border. The person who dry-mounted the poster simply backed it as is without attempting to repair the above defects. We have no idea how easy or difficult it would be to remove the poster from the board, but we would certainly think the poster could be framed and displayed exactly as it is, but please study our super-sized image closely to see exactly where the poster is printed off-register and how noticeable the tear is, before placing a bid on this poster.
