An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 33 1/2" [62 x 85 cm]) (Learn More)

Bouboule 1er, roi negre (literally translates to "Bouboule the 1st, Black King") the 1934 Leon Mathot French Paris Africa diamond smuggling comedy starring Georges Milton (in the title role as Georges 'Bouboule' Vinot; about a man who is coerced into a diamond smuggling ring in Senegal, Africa, and the smugglers take out insurance on him with a plan to kill him, however he thwarts all of their attempts and eventually becomes king of a small village!), Simone Deguyse, Victor Vina, Fifi Precar, and Joe Alex. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare "pre-War" Belgian poster (we have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning)! Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them. Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good to very good. There is paper loss along portions of the blank borders and there is some separation and paper loss in the upper vertical foldline edge (see our image). There is some darkening around the edges and foldlines, typical of vintage French posters. It has what appears to be paper loss in the center crossfold, however there is some paper left in that area but it has folded over to the front (see our image). It is otherwise in pretty good condition and after a relatively simple linenbacking the rare pre-war Belgian poster will look great!
