What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and separation and some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds. It had many creases and stains scattered throughout the poster, including in both stars' faces, with some tears and small paper loss scattered in the image as well. The borders were somewhat tattered. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. A very talented restorer made this much lesser condition poster presentable, and from a reasonable viewing distance, it can definitely be enjoyed, but from close up, you can clearly see that it has had extensive restoration. Please read our description above and look at our super-sized image before placing a bid on this poster. Note that the restorer left a tiny bit of excess linen around all four sides of the poster (they left a small border in order to protect the poster from handling damage, but they did not leave a larger border, to allow it to more easily fit in a frame).
