Date Sold 9/6/2009Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Land of Liberty, the 1939 patriotic compilation ("139 famed stars! 1000 explosive thrills!"; "139 famed stars! 200 spectacular scenes! 1000 thrills!"; "The Civil War... brother against brother... friend against friend... but out of it rises a stronger nation!"; edited by Cecil B. Demille from 126 different films) starring (a Who's Who of Hollywood at the time!) "among the 139 stars who appear in this picture"; in alphabetical order: Don Ameche, George Arliss, Edward Arnold, John Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore, Warner Baxter, Wallace Beery, George Brent, Bob Burns, Claudette Colbert, Gary Cooper, Bette Davis, Irene Dunne, Henry Fonda, Joel McCrea, Fredric March, Robert Montgomery, Anna Neagle, George Raft, Randolph Scott, James Stewart, Lewis Stone, Margaret Sullavan, Spencer Tracy, and Loretta Young. Note that each of the lobby cards feature famous stars who made appearances in this DeMille documentary, so those who collect on those stars need to track down that specific scene card, as this IS a movie that starred that actor! Also, note that this film was intended to be a tribute to the beauty and history of the United States, and was shown at the New York World's Fair of 1939/1940, and the 1939 San Francisco Exposition. In 1940, MGM wide-released an updated & edited version (it was 98 minutes instead of the original 138) to theaters, and all known movie paper is from this wide release. Because the 1939 release was so limited (and likely had no mass produced posters), we consider the "regular" release items to be "first release". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. The theater that used this slide wrote the days the movie was playing in the playdates section at the bottom of the glass. Otherwise, the cardboard holder has staining around the staples, but the glass slide itself is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
