A Set of 3 Original Vintage Movie Scripts (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 353 total pages) (Learn More)

Jumpin' Jack Flash, the 1986 Penny Marshall romantic action comedy ("A man named Jack has got her Jumpin' and the world may never be the same!"; "An Adventure in Comedy") starring Whoopi Goldberg, Stephen Collins, John Wood, Annie Potts, Carol Kane, Jonathan Pryce (in the title role as Jack), Jon Lovitz, Phil Hartman, James Belushi, and Tracey Ullman. Note that Burt Reynolds was originally set to direct this movie, but he had a falling out with producer Joel Silver, and Howard Zieff was hired. Jon Lovitz auditioned for Zieff, but did not get the part. When Penny Marshall took over as director, she learned that Lovitz had auditioned and offered him the part, and he accepted. Shelley Long was originally cast to play the lead role, but she left and Whoopi Goldberg was hired instead. Along with the multiple changes of directors and cast members, the movie went through many different scripts by many different screenwriters, and was revised many, many times!

Important Added Info: Note that the very first screenplays for this movie were written by David Franzoni, Diana Hammond, and M.D. Milworth. On July 12, 1985, Charles Shyer and Nancy Meyers created a "revised screenplay" (labeled "third draft"), and at that point, the movie was called "Sweet Dreams" (and it comes to us from the personal collection of director/screenwriter Charles Shyer; see below). On October 25, 1985 Richard Price rewrote the screenplay, which was now called "Jumpin' Jack Flash", and that script credits all of the previous authors, and is called a "rewrite screenplay". On December 10, 1985, a new script was created that credits all of the above people, including a new writer, Steven deSouza, and M.D. Milworth has become M.J. Milworth, surely a typo. Even with all this massive rewriting, that 12/10/85 script was then revised 12 different times, and a multitude of different colored revision sheets were inserted into the 12/10/85 script! The winner of this auction receives all three of the scripts.

Note: We have 15 images of the movie scripts in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 15 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 5. Note that this script was consigned to us directly from director/screenwriter Charles Shyer. Mr. Shyer is the director of many extremely popular movies from the 1970s to the present, many of which are romantic comedies, including House Calls, Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, remakes of Father of the Bride and The Parent Trap, and many others. Over the years, he collected scripts, which he received primarily in two different ways. He was friends with screenwriters, directors, and producers during those years, and they would sometimes send him scripts of their movies to get his opinion of them, and many of those are offered here. In addition, as a member of the screenwriter's branch of the Academy, he was sent many scripts where the producers hoped that their script would be nominated for a Best Screenwriting Academy Award, and many of these have "for your consideration" printed on the cover. This is a rare opportunity to purchase original scripts that come directly from the personal collection of a prominent director/screenwriter!

Condition: very good to fine. All three scripts are in pretty nice condition. Note that we have photographed the cover of the script, the title page, the final page of the script (the one that reads "THE END"), and one or more interior pages. These images will not only provide important information about the script, but they also allow you to closely judge the condition of the script. The script is 100% complete!
