Romero's Dawn of the Dead (released in some English-speaking countries as "Zombie: Dawn of the Dead", "Zombies", and "Zombi One"), the 1978 (released in the U.S. in 1979) George A. Romero undead zombie horror thriller ("When there's no more room in Hell the dead will walk the Earth"; "First there was 'Night of the Living Dead' Now George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead"; "There is no explicit sex in this picture. However, there are scenes of violence which may be considered shocking. No one under 17 admitted"; a sequel to Night of the Living Dead; Dario Argento can be considered a producer of this film because he helped raise money to make it, though he is billed as the "script consultant") starring David Emge, Ken Foree, Scott H. Reiniger, Gaylen Ross, David Crawford, David Early, Richard France, Tom Savini, and music by The Goblins with Dario Argento. Note that this movie was first released in Italy in September of 1978. It was first released in the U.S. in New York in April 1979 and in Los Angeles in May 1979, and then had a wider release in late May of that year. All of these releases are part of the "first continuous release", and none are "re-releases". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Lanny Powers Important Added Info: Many collectors agree that at first, there were solely 16mm prints for the first U.S. release of this movie, and was shown mainly in drive-in theaters and "B" movie theaters which didn't show big studio movies (because theater owners did not believe it would do well in such a theater!). This 16mm print was created from the Cannes Film Festival version which was 139 minutes long. Once the film started gaining popularity, it was given a wide release in 35mm with a version that had been edited down to 127 minutes, and a second one-sheet (with the same image, but with the title in red) was created for that 35mm release. The poster offered here has a red title and must be promoting the 35mm version. However, the poster has "Available non theatrically exclusively from Cinema 5 - 16 MM" in the blank bottom border. This offer was for colleges and other non-theatrical venues but we are uncertain which edit of the film was shown. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. There are minor creases and scuff marks scattered throughout the poster but they are not very distracting and the poster displays well from a short distance away.
