Jiggs and Maggie in Society, the 1948 Edward F. Cline (billed as "Eddie Cline") comedy ("Arthur Murray teaches Maggie how to trip the light fantastic!"; "Dale Carnegie tells Jiggs 'how to make friends and influence people'!"; "Based on the original newspaper feature by George McManus"; "Sheilah Graham famed film columnist interviews Maggie!"; "Story and Screenplay by Eddie Cline and Barney Gerard") starring Joe Yule (in the title role as Jiggs), Renie Riano (in the title role as Maggie), Wanda McKay, Lee Bonnell, Arthur Murray (billed as "Featuring Arthur Murray Dance King"), Dale Carnegie (billed as "Author of 'How To Win Friends'"), Sheilah Graham (billed as "Famed Film Columnist") and Jimmy Aubrey. George McManus was the cartoon genius who started "Bringing Up Father" in 1913. Before that, he had drawn some other newspaper comic strips including a series of "Let George Do It" strips. In 1916, animated cartoons were adapted from "Bringing Up Father", but they were not very successful. In 1924, the Stern Brothers signed to do a series of live action adaptations of the "Let George Do It" cartoons, and they were very successful, spawning a long series, and two years later, there were live action "Bringing Up Father" movies. In 1946, a new series of live action movies started, and it was also popular, spawning several sequels.
